Broncos prep for Regional track meet on May 20-21

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos had a successful day when they hosted the NE 2B District Meet in Ritzville on May 10.

At the meet, the Broncos boys’ team finished in fourth with 68 points, while the girls finished fifth with 68.5 points.

Alan Field qualified to move on to compete in the 100-meter, 200-meter and long jump.

Field had first place finishes in the 200 and long jump, and netted second place in the 100.

Peyton Kiel earned the right to compete in Regionals with top finishes in the 110-meter high hurdles and pole vault, as well as the 4x100-meter relay.

His relay team members Jack Anderson, Mason Brausen and Alex Whitman all move on to Regionals as well.

Whitman also continues on in the javelin, while Anderson is set to compete in high jump.

On the girls’ side, Rachel Schell will compete in the 100, 200, 4x100 and the 4x200-meter relay at Regionals.

Joining her on the two relays are Holly Nygren, Felicia Ziemer, Samantha Asmussen and Dinah Gadberry.

The Broncos 4x400-meter relay team is also moving on to Regionals. Ziemer qualified as a member of the 4x400 relay, and also individually in the 800-meter race.

In field events, Kallie Harder, Brooke Koch, Sierra Kiel and Gadberry all move on to compete.

The qualifiers now prepare to compete at the Regional track meet at Central Valley High School on May 20-21 in hopes of making it to State.
