Lind-Ritzville FFA teams qualify for Nationals

In addition to the Lind-Ritzville FFA Agronomy team that qualified to compete at the National FFA Convention this fall, two Lind-Ritzville teams have also earned an opportunity to represent the local chapter at Nationals.

During the Washington State FFA Convention on May 12-15, the Lind-Ritzville FFA Chapter had 11 teams competing for a chance to move onto the National Convention. From these 11 teams, two teams were comprised of students from Lind-Ritzville Middle School.

The Marketing Plan team consisting of team members Madison Harder, Raeann Hoeft and Felicia Ziemer captured the state title and earned a trip to Indiana.

The second team qualifying for a trip to Nationals is the Junior High Quiz Bowl team. The team placed second in state, and earned the right to move onto the National competition.

The Junior High Quiz Bowl team members are Julia Klein, Rachel Nygren, Diamond Spain, Eliza Galbreath, Brinley Moore, Jay Harder and Katheran Gingrich.

The Lind-Ritzville chapter also had a team place second in the Marketing Plan contest. The members of the second place State team are Tessa O’Brien, Kallie Harder and Tessa Jantz.

The Meat Judging team captured a fourth place finish in State, with team member Ryan Frederick recording the second highest score of all participants in the event. His team members during the contest were Hallie Jo Galbreath, Camden Smith, Kierstin Witt, Nathan Naught and Bryce Esser.

Also representing the Lind-Ritzville chapter and finishing sixth in the state is one of the Farm Business Management teams. The team members who placed sixth are Ziemer, Devin Schafer, Smith and Alan Field.

An additional Farm Business Management team also competed at the State Convention, and the team members were Kallie Harder, Naught, TyAnn Tellefson, Pake Taylor and Dane Wahl.

The Ag Sales team of TyAnn Tellefson, Tara Tellefson, Taylor Kulm and Taylor finished eighth at the state level.

Also capturing an eighth place finish in State is the Lind-Ritzville Ag Issues team, who presented on the East High Canal. Team members on this team were Dinah Gadberry, Holly Nygren, Peyton Curtis, Rachel Schell, Morgan Shields and Erica Leffel.

The Lind-Ritzville FFA Chapter had four additional teams compete at State Convention. For the Veterinary Science contest, team members were Brianna Kin Kade, Sharon Anderson, Naught and Emily Rosen.

In the First Year Member contest, Lacey Miller, Aaliyah Yaeger and Witt all competed to represent the local chapter. The Food Science team members were Yaeger, Abby Gering, Grace Greenwalt, Dusty Kulm and Alarah Pierce-Pulliam.

The second group of Lind-Ritzville Middle School students who competed at the State Convention participated in the Dairy Foods contest. The team members were Conrad Ziemer, Spencer Miller, Alibama Rushing and Mariah Arroyo.

The Marketing Plan and Junior High Quiz Bowl teams will both head to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis to compete on Oct. 19-22.
