Special Election ballots mailed to residents on April 7

Adams County will hold a Special Election for the purpose of voting on local district propositions on April 26.

On April 8 the 18-day voting period, through Election Day, will begin with ballots being mailed April 7.

The Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2 proposition 1 will be included on this ballot.

This proposition is a continuation Emergency Medical Services (EMS) levy and would raise $255,000 for the support of emergency medical care and services.

This measure will require an estimated levy rate of $0.36, per $1,000 of assessed valuation for a period of six years.

Ritzville School District No 160-67 will also have a proposition on this ballot in the form of a Bond to Modernize, Improve and Construct School Facilities.

This proposition would authorize the district to modernize Lind-Ritzville High School, upgrade Ritzville Grade School, to make health, safety, security, energy efficiency and infrastructure improvements to other school facilities.

The bond also includes District-wide instructional technology upgrades, and the construction of a second gym for school and community use.

The proposition will issue no more than $12.8 million of general obligations bonds maturing within 20 years.

First time voters can register in person until 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 18, at the Adams County Auditor’s Office located at 210 West Broadway Avenue in Ritzville.

Adams County is a vote by mail county and a ballot will be mailed to each active registered voter in participating precincts.

A drop box will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Adams County Auditor’s Office. A 24-hour secure ballot drop box is available at Ritzville City Hall or Washtucna Town Hall.

Ritzville City Hall is located at 216 East Main Avenue and Washtucna Town Hall is located at 165 South Main Street.
