ACSO assists in high-speed chase

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Washington State Patrol (WSP), worked together Feb. 10 to apprehend a suspect during a long and drawn out vehicle pursuit.

ACSO assisted the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department with a vehicle pursuit.

The vehicle pursuit was initiated due to the vehicle being involved in suspicious circumstances in Franklin County and the vehicle had fled the area.

The pursuit spanned several miles into Adams County ranging from the Franklin/Adams County line to northbound Highway 395 just north of Lind.

WSP also joined in the pursuit to assist. During the pursuit, WSP deployed spike strips, which deflated the front tires.

The pursuit continued north on U.S. Route 395 until the front tires of the suspect’s vehicle came off. The suspect continued traveling on the steel wheels shooting large amounts of sparks out from under the vehicle while units continued to pursue it.

The suspect finally pulled over just north of Lind on US Route 395.

Units pulled in behind the vehicle and started giving the driver commands to come out. The driver refused to comply with commands.

A short time went by and the ACSO’s K9 Unit arrived on scene. Once the K9 was deployed and the driver heard the dog barking, the driver complied with commands and came out of the vehicle.

The driver was taken into custody without incident. The driver was identified as Darcy G. Price, a 59-year-old, white, male.

Once the scene was secure, Price and the vehicle were turned over to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
