Bob Danekas

Bob Danekas, 96, of Grand Junction, CO, died Tuesday, July 28, at BeeHive assisted living home.

Bob, the oldest of three siblings, was born March 13, 1919 to Henry and Anna Danekas in Ritzville. He married Mildred Ott, also of Ritzville, on October 19, 1940, a union that spanned 65 years.

Following service in the Army, Bob was employed by United Airlines for several years, eventually returning to Ritzville where he pursued farming.

Bob’s interests and activities ranged from serving as County Commissioner to sharing his love for music through playing saxophone in various dance bands to singing barbershop and in the church choir.

In 1991 Bob and Mildred moved to Grand Junction to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Marlene Danekas, and grandson, Matt Danekas, of Denver. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; brother, Ralph Danekas; and sister, Lucille Telecky.

Bob requested there be no memorial service. Interment will occur at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado, where he will share a headstone and site with his beloved wife.
