DYW float garners first place awards

The Ritzville Distinguished Young Women (DYW) are currently in prime time parade season. Our Cinderella themed float “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo” has already traveled many places this summer with Hallie Galbreath as Cinderella, accompanied by Holly Nygren and Samantha Asmussen as her fairy godmothers.

The first parade of the year was the Lilac Parade in Spokane. Although the weather was not the most cooperative, with rain and wind, we enjoyed this parade. Our float placed first in our division, receiving the Princess Award and the Second Place Torchlight Award for lighting.

Next, we attended the Moses Lake Moonlight Parade where a huge crowd lined the streets, making it fun for us to see everyone’s smiling faces.

In June we attended the Reardan parade and took first place! Next, we attended the Lind parade during derby weekend and won the Chamber Award.

To celebrate the Fourth of July we went to the Washtucna Parade and received the first place award. We also joined them for a barbeque in the park afterwards and had an amazing time celebrating the holiday with their great community.

Then the morning of July 11 we all woke up early to make the long drive to Chewelah for their annual parade. We loved this parade, even though it was the furthest parade we have traveled to.

Most recently we attended the Davenport parade and received the Royalty Award.

Along with the parades, we enjoy meeting other royalty as we travel from town to town! We still have many more parades ahead of us and are looking forward to them all. We love representing our amazing community!

We hope to see you all at our Ritzville Parade, Labor Day Weekend. Thank you for your support as a community.
