Lind grain terminals gain new manager

Upon the departure of the prior management, Gavilon Grain made the decision to become more involved in the Lind area elevators. Gavilon chose trusted employee, Dakin Bushner, for the Union Elevator manager position.

Bushner grew up on a farm in Yuma, Colorado, an area very similar to the small community of Lind.

With a degree in Agriculture Business, Bushner graduated from Colorado State University and has worked directly with Gavilon for over a year in Omaha, Nebraska, where the headquarters are located.

Gavilon Grain and Lind Union Elevator signed a purchase agreement in 2011 allowing Gavilon to acquire Union Elevator’s eastern Washington assets. Included in the agreement were 16 different grain elevators at 12 locations.

Gavilon, pleased to expand with a company with such a rich history of serving producers in eastern Washington, felt Bushner would be the perfect fit to build a program and add value to the Union Elevators.

He currently manages Lind, Schrag, Bruce and an operation out of Oregon.

Bushner is looking forward to growing a broad network of financial trading, which would add more value and customer offerings and leverage the company’s scale and scope and drive greater efficiencies through the elevators operations.

Bushner has enjoyed getting to know the community members and farmers in the area. Communicating with the area residents to continue growth and develop marketing tools not currently available in the area.

A warm, open arm welcome from the community has made Bushner feel at home and comfortable as he learns the ins and outs of the eastern Washington market. He feels there is much opportunity in the elevator’s future and is pleased to be involved in the future plans.

Currently residing in Airway Heights, Bushner is looking forward to the busy harvest season and hoping to partake in some fishing or hunting with his black lab companion. Also a fan of live music, Bushner is looking forward to attending a concert at the Gorge Amphitheatre.

To contact Bushner, call the Lind facility at 677-3441 or email [email protected]. For more information on Gavilon Grain, visit http:// http://www.gavilon.com/location/gavilon-grain-lind.
