T-cats tennis competes against WC

The LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus Tigercats hosted Wilbur-Creston in Ritzville on April 23 where they earned multiple league wins.

The Tigercats took the court in the singles competitions and quickly got out to an early lead.

In the No. 1 singles contest, Logan Miller defeated Wilbur-Creston’s top singles player, Christian Nelson. Miller earned the win with a final score of 6-0, 6-2.

Doug McKeen also found success on the court in the No. 2 singles contest. McKeen defeated Zach Behr to earn the win, 6-1, 6-2.

In a pro-set match, used to give more athletes an opportunity to play in a one-set match, Tigercat Kaese Ramos was defeated by Nelson. The No. 3 singles match went in favor of Nelson, 8-1.

Brittany Gordon had the opportunity to compete against Janae Disef in the No. 2 singles contest. As a first year player, Gordon has opted into playing in the No. 2 slot, instead of in the top position in order to have more balanced competition.

In the No. 2 singles contest, Disef defeated Gordon with a final score of 6-0, 6-1.

Derek McKeen and Garrett Correll represented the Tigercats in the No. 1 doubles contest. The duo has been competing together for the past two seasons. The Tigercats faced Wilbur-Creston’s top doubles team of Andrew Peterson and Steven Chicklinsky.

After a hard fought match, Wilbur-Creston earned the win with a score of 6-3, 6-2.

The Tigercats moved on to face the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos on April 28. The results of the match were unavailable at press time.
