LRS golf successful in outings

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague golf team has competed in three golf matches in April. The competitions took place in Colville, Fairways and Deer Park.

In Colville, Michael Shields and Brian Campbell both scored 93, while Ryan Frederick and Patrick Bartz both shot 111. Grayson Whitaker rounded out the scoring for the boys’ team with a 128.

On the girls’ side, Tessa Jantz tied for third with a 97 at the Colville match.

The team then traveled to Fairways Golf Course where all of the athletes improved their scores. Trevor Jantz and Shields both shot an 88, closely followed by Campbell with 89. Frederick had a 98, Bartz 100 and Whitaker scored 122.

Tessa Jantz placed sixth with a 95, and Morgan Lane scored 134.

Head Coach Nick Weishaar said after the match that the team played well, but as a whole, needed to buckle down in the last two league matches in order to prepare for sub-districts. Weishaar explained there are a lot of competitive golfers in the league this year, and the LRS team needs to perform well to qualify for playoffs.

The LRS team then traveled to Deer Park on April 27 for one of the final league matches of the season.

At the league match, both Trevor Jantz and Frederick recorded career bests. Weishaar noted he was pleased with the solid level of play from all of the LRS athletes on Monday.

Trevor Jantz recorded a 77, which earned him a third place finish at the match. Shields scored a 89 during the Deer Park match.

Frederick and Campbell both recorded 91, while Whitaker had a score of 119.

Tessa Jantz placed third with a 92, while Lane scored 125.
