Lady Broncos defeat Tekoa-Rosalia in league contest

The Lady Broncos played a doubleheader at home against the Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves Tuesday, April 14, which resulted in two winning games for the Lady Broncos.

The first of the two games ended in a 14-3 Lady Bronco win over the Timberwolves. Overall, the team played very well, stated head coach Todd O’Brien; their hitting was much better compared to previous games in the season.

Sarah Aldrich has stepped up and shown intensity on third base defense with five assists and one personal out.

The second game against the Timberwolves was played with the same teamwork and intensity as the first. O’Brien stated the Lady Broncos remained excited to play and he was thrilled to see the “alive bats” from the team.

Emma Aldrich pitched well and the Lady Broncos showed more improvement defensively from previous games with less mental errors than ever in the season.

Offensively Mattox and Tessa O’Brien showed aggressive nature at the plate. O’Brien scored four runs for the game and Mattox hit three strong triples throughout the game which ended in a win for the Lady Broncos with a score of 14-4.

Traveling to Reardan for a doubleheader against the Indians Saturday, April 18, resulted in a win and a loss for the Lady Broncos.

Mattox pitched the first game holding the Indians to three hits. O’Brien and Aldrich played excellent fielding defense with 10 of the near 20 outs made between the two players.

Offensively the Lady Broncos hit very well, O’Brien hit four RBIs and scored one homerun for the team. Kim Gimmaka and Alarah Pierce-Pulliam were top hitters for first game batting very well.

In the second game against Reardan coach O’Brien stated the team learned some things and continued hitting very well. Lady Broncos started the game off strong and held the lead through most of the game.

Offensively, they started the game off strong with eight runs and a strong defense, especially from the left side of the field, which held Reardan until the bottom of the seventh inning where the Indians pulled it together for the win over the Lady Broncos 15-14.

The team also played Davenport on April 21. Results will run next week.

The Lady Broncos host Liberty on Saturday, April 25, at noon.
