Irene E. Wellsandt Rehm

Irene E. Wellsandt Rehm, 103, died on January 4. Irene was born to Karl and Sophie Moeller Wellsandt on March 23, 1911 in Ritzville.

She spent her early life on the family wheat farm outside Ritzville and graduated from Ritzville High School in 1929. On September 6, 1931, she married E. A. “Bud” Rehm. After living in Wenatchee, for many years, the family moved to Omak, in 1960.

Irene went to work for the Omak School District as a school secretary until she retired in the early 1970’s.

She was a member of the Omak Presbyterian Church, Omak-Okanogan Senior Center, Omak Pioneer Club and Orthopedic Guild. She loved to dance, play the organ, and spend time with her family.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, infant son, Jack Elwin, sister Lucille Wellsandt Thom and brother, Victor Wellsandt.

She is survived by daughter, Sandra (Pat) Girard of Yuma, AZ, daughter Linda (Dan) Duncan of Buckley, and son Jim (Jill) Rehm of Omak, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family is planning a Celebration of Irene’s Life in the spring.

Memorials may be made to the Omak Presbyterian Church or the Omak-Okanogan Senior Center.
