Mobile CSO set to arrive in Ritzville on Jan. 14

The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) returns to Ritzville with the Mobile Community Service Office (CSO) on Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Main Avenue, across from The Ritz Theatre.

The CSO unit has onsite representatives to offer assistance to area community members needing to apply for state assistance regarding cash, basic food, medical and drug and alcohol treatment services.

The DSHS Mobile Community Services Office (CSO) is a 40-foot truck that transforms into a fully functional office staffed with experienced program specialists.

This allows program specialists to process eligibility determinations for social service programs on site.

Like the local community services offices within DSHS, the CSO processes new applications, reviews, or changes on existing cases for food, cash, some medical programs that still remain with DSHS, usually for elderly or disabled people and Medicare Savings programs.

According to the DSHS website (http://www.dshs.wa.gov/mobileoffice/), “The Department of Social and Health Services has created two 40-foot trucks that transform into functioning offices.

Each Mobile CSO unit is staffed by experienced financial workers who are able to complete Cash and Basic Food interviews, Eligibility Reviews, complete changes to active Cash and Food cases, issue EBT cards, and receive documents for Cash, Food and Childcare Programs.”

The Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce is working with DSHS to provide the mobile unit to area citizens in need of assistance.

For information about this event, contact the chamber at 659-1936 or [email protected].
