Lind School District welcomes new faces, including Saetre

Born with a lifelong passion to be a teacher, Ann-Marie Saetre joins the staff in the Lind School District as a para-professional.

Saetre splits her time between the Lind Elementary School and Lind-Ritzville Middle School working with students one-on-one.

Saetre explained as a child she wanted to become a teacher, and as she got older, that passion only grew.

She turned her focus to special education and earned her Bachelor’s degree and her Master’s degree in the field. She is also highly qualified in reading.

Saetre focused on special education because she understood that not all students learn the same way, and special education allows her an opportunity to expand a students’ learning environment to cater to their needs.

“I believe all students can learn, and all students deserve an education,” Saetre said. “As a teacher I have found that not all students learn the same and some need more one on one assistance. But it is important as a teacher to provide that to students.”

Throughout the course of the school year, Saetre’s goal is to grow as a teacher. She describes herself as a constant learner and she is always looking to improve as an educator.

Saetre and her husband James have two children, Jordyn and Jaxtin, and she said the family enjoys being outdoors. The family stays active through bike rides, walks and camping, and enjoys spending as much time as possible outside.

Her goals for her students include becoming successful and confident in themselves at school, an obstacle she says is hard for most to overcome in the classroom. But having students believe in themselves and know they can do it is important, she said.
