Former Sheriff voices support for Benzel

This letter is in support of Carolyn Benzel for Ritzville District Court Judge. I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Carolyn for about 7 years. I first met her as a Deputy Prosecutor with Grant County. I had worked on a case that crossed into Grant County. Carolyn was very professional and dedicated to her job.

Later, Carolyn came to the Adams County and I found her to be very easy to work with. Carolyn was able to balance the job of prosecutor and the wants of law enforcement, with the goal to have a proper and just outcome.

Carolyn has practiced law in a variety of ways and to me, gives her a broad base of experience in being a judge. For me I want a judge that has civil law and criminal law experience, not only as a prosecutor but also in private practice. Carolyn Benzel brings this experience, with judicial experience included.

I have been disappointed to hear many incorrect statements regarding Carolyn in this campaign. I was even challenged to look into those statements. I did and found all of them to be wrong. I would encourage anyone that has questions to talk to the candidates and then make your judgment.

I have worked on the law enforcement side of the law for 38 years, eleven years as Sheriff and have seen many judges and how the courts have run. With this knowledge and experience, I firmly believe that Carolyn brings seasoned experience to the position and is the best choice. I strongly support Carolyn Benzel as Ritzville District Court Judge.
