Cowboy up at Foundation Auction

The 21st annual East Adams County Healthcare Foundation Wine and Microbrew Tasting and Auction takes place on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the C.J. Newland American Legion Memorial Hall on Broadway Avenue beginning at 6 p.m.

The theme for the evening event is “Cowboy Up” and Mike Telecky, who is serving up a traditional barbecue dinner, is catering the meal for the evening. Rocky Coulee Brewery is providing the microbrew selection and the primarily selection of wines are provided by Northwest Vintners.

The event begins with an extensive silent auction that provides those in attendance with a variety of items to bid on. The live auction begins at 8 p.m. with an estimated 25 items available for purchase.

Reserved tickets for the event can be purchased for $25 or tickets can be purchased for $30 at the door. Presale tickets are available at U.S. Bank and Sterling Bank in Ritzville. Payments for tickets can also be sent to the EACH Foundation at PO Box 365 in Ritzville.

Every year, the EACH Foundation uses the funds raised at the auction to provide necessary upgrades for the hospital, clinic and the EMTs. The EACH Foundation receives priority requests from each entity and does the best to provide them with the necessary equipment.

In previous years, the funds have been used to provide new furniture in the hospital lobby, new furniture in the exam rooms and a gurney for the new ambulance, as well as help host medical students visiting the community. Other recent additions have included a new x-ray table for the hospital that provides the hospital with advanced technology to help better serve their patients, and a CPR compression vest for the EMT staff to use.

The EACH Foundation also provides two scholarships annually to individuals pursuing a career in the medical field. The $1,000 Ronald W. Baumann Memorial scholarships are awarded to individuals pursuing an education in the healthcare field at the college level that live within the hospital district, covering the communities of Ritzville, Lind and Washtucna.

This is the sole fundraiser for the EACH Foundation, whose primary goals are to help serve Adams County Health District No. 2 and the residents of eastern Adams County. EACH Foundation is a nonprofit organization operating under the Internal Revenue Service designation of a 501 (c)(3). The funds raised at this event are spent inside the boundary of the health district.
