Chamberlins purchase former liquor store for retail shop, craft distillery

Dennis and Mary Chamberlin have officially purchased the downtown building that previously housed Wild Flowers Quilt Shop and Liquor Store.

The couple is working to open two businesses out of the local shop: a retail store and a small craft distillery.

Dennis explained it is going to be a long process and the building is currently being inspected so the Chamberlin’s know the extent of the remodeling that will need to take place.

Dennis said he expects the retail shop to open first and the shop products will predominately be agricultural, with some craft merchandise as well.

Dennis believes the craft distillery will not be operational until late next year due to remodeling and applying for the necessary licensing to operate the distillery.

The retail shop is going to sell only products made in the state of Washington, and Dennis is putting emphasis on bringing local merchants into the shop to sell their products.

While the retail shop will have products from across the state, Dennis wants to ensure local businesses are being promoted.

“This building became available and we love downtown,” Dennis said of the decision to start the two businesses.

The Chamberlin’s are looking for community support and encourage locals that are interested in selling their products with the company to contact Dennis at 509-347-6899.

The Chamberlin’s intend to start a Facebook page in the coming months to keep the public informed on the progress of the businesses.
