Henjum resigns on short notice as Ritzville principal

Cheryl Henjum has announced her resignation as principal for the Ritzville School District, effective Aug. 1, after accepting an administration position with the Deer Park School District.

Henjum served as the principal for the two Ritzville schools for the past two years.

Henjum notified superintendent of Lind and Ritzville schools, Rob Roettger, of her decision on July 29. The vacant position has been posted to receive applications, Roettger explained, with the deadline for applicants set for Aug. 13.

Roettger said the district hopes to fill the position before the start of the school year, but if qualified applicants do not apply for the position, the district will have to make adjustments for the upcoming year. Roettger expects if the position is not filled, he will step into a part-time principal position to fill the void of responsibilities.

The district is receiving applications at Lind-Ritzville High School and the questions can be directed to the district office at 659-1720.

The position description and application can be found on the school’s website, http://lrschools.org.
