Candidate filing period closes Friday

As of Wednesday night, 39 candidates have filed for an office in Adams County and the filing period for candidates closes on Friday, May 17.

Online filing for candidacy closes at 4 p.m. on May 17 or forms must be returned to the Adams County Auditor’s Office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Candidates who had filed for candidacy on Wednesday night include the Hospital District commissioner district 2 position, a nonpartisan office on a six-year term, with incumbent Jerry Crossler being the only candidate to file.

In the Washtucna School District, Teresa Correll has filed for the Director Position 2, a four-year term.

Steve Crouse has applied in the Director Position 4 opening for the Washtucna Schools, and it is also a four-year term.

The Benge School District has two board positions open for candidate filing. Heather Clinesmith has applied in the Director 2 position and Bruce Honn has applied for the Director 5 position, both are four-year terms.

For the Lind School District, incumbent Rena Wahl has reapplied to fill the four-year candidacy of Director Position 5 for the Lind School Board. Marci Miller has filed for candidacy for the Ritzville School District to continue her role as director for District 5, a four-year term.

The Town of Lind has four positions open for candidacy, one being the position of mayor. Incumbent Jamie Schmunk had not filed for reelection as of Wednesday night, but former mayor Larry Koch has filed for candidacy.

In the council position 1, incumbent Rosemary Elkington has reapplied for the four-year term. In the council position 2 in Lind, incumbent PJ Jacobsen has filed for candidacy and challenger Kathy White has also announced her candidacy for the four-year term. In the council position 3 in Lind, Tom Strohmaier has filed for candidacy.

The City of Ritzville also has four positions open for candidate filing, with only one incumbent having filed for reelection as of Wednesday. Scott Yaeger has filed to return to the council in the council ward 3 position, a four-year term.

David McCormick has filed for reelection as commissioner position 3 for Fire District 1, a six-year term.

For Ritzville Park and Recreation 4, Kimberly Yaeger has filed for reelection in the commissioner 2 position, a four-year term. Andrea Heider filed for candidacy in commissioner position 3 and Angalina Boettcher filed for commissioner position 5, both are two-year unexpired terms.

For the Washtucna Park and Recreation 2 district, Dennis Evans has applied for the four-year term of commissioner position 5.
