Criticism needs to stop

In reference to a letter published on April 11: That sounds like pretty good advice, but is it? If its followed by judgment and negativity? Looks like we are criticizing for criticizing for…

Don’t we want to encourage our citizens to get involved in the community? Not discredit and shame them if they aren’t in attendance at meetings. Good for the people who do attend; let’s try to get more of them.

Why criticize the people who care enough to voice their opinions and even to write in? If they don’t have full information and understanding, let’s get the word out.

We’re telling those people that their opinions are not constructive and contribute nothing? “Please stand aside?” But wait, I thought you were mad because people weren’t showing up. Now you’re mad because you don’t like what they have to say. Which is it?

We need to understand the magnitude of these articles. Underneath runs a not so silent condemnation of people who aren’t on the right side of the issue, whatever that may be.

Why do I feel that if those letters were on the right side, they would suddenly become “opinions from involved citizens?”

Thank God we live in a free country. We are allowed to be on the right side or the wrong side, and we can say so out loud, and even on paper.

Why not address the real subject: I’m assuming it’s the hospital board and their actions? As long as everyone talks in code, somehow avoiding the real issue, everyone will continue to be frustrated! This really is the elephant in the room.
