Adams County Sheriff's Office Report

March 16, 8:42 p.m. – Dispatch advised of a suspicious 911 hang up call from a location on West 2nd Street in Lind. Deputy Bernath contacted the residence and found no one home. Dep. Bernath spoke with a neighbor who advised the residents were not home now.

March 16, 6:30 p.m. – Dispatch advised of a Lind complainant requesting contact at the Lind Park regarding a suspicious person. Upon contact, Deputy Bernath contacted the complainant who advised their child called and stated a slender older female subject was talking strangely and started to video them. They further advised the subject was driving an older Chevy two-door, had stopped to talk to the children then drove away. She then came back to video the children and left town towards 395. Dep. Bernath advised dispatch to contact Ritzville Police and Connell Police Departments to advise them of the incident.

March 16, 4:43 p.m. – Lind complainant advised their ex was at the residence wanting to take the children on a non-visitation day. Complainant further advised they were concerned for their safety. Deputy Verhey contacted the complainant and the subject who advised of a parenting plan in place. Dep. Verhey advised the two subjects to follow the contract and contact their attorney’s about the situation.

March 16, 12:32 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of an attempted burglary on East 5th Street in Lind. Deputy Verhey contacted the complainant at the residence and observed a side door that was attempted to be pried open. No entrance was made and nothing was taken.

March 16, 8:05 a.m. – Deputy Verhey responded to a suspicious 911 hang up call on West 2nd Street in Lind. Dep. Verhey checked the residence and was unable to find anyone there.

March 15, 7:24 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of a suspicious vehicle on North Neilson Road near the pump house. Deputy Madison contacted the complainant who advised of a small pickup with white racing stripes in the area. Dep. Madison and the complainant searched the area and did not find anything missing or out of place.

March 15, 3:34 p.m. – Lind complainant advised their neighbor has moved out and left the dog in the house on Vulcan Street. The complainant further stated it appeared the dog is being taken care of nightly and seems to be there protecting items left in the house. Sergeant Stacy Flynn advised the vacating tenant to make sure the dog is cared for. The subject stated they will be completely moved out soon.

March 14, 8:17 a.m. – Lind complainant advised their ex called and was going to pick up the children after school. The complainant further advised during their conversation they disagreed on who would pick them up. There is no belief that the children will be in danger, the complainant wanted the situation on record since there is a parenting plan in place.

March 13, 6:47 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of dogs barking constantly on East 5th Street. Deputy Madison contacted the complainant to contact the city during business hours. Dep. Madison additionally contacted the dog owners and advised them of the complaint. They advised they understood and stated they would try to control the dogs barking.

March 13, 3:40 p.m. – Lind complainant requested a hulk vehicle form on East Presnel Road. Deputy Madison completed and left the form for the complainant at the requested location.

March 13, 1:54 a.m. – Adams County Jail requested assistance with a cell search. Deputy Bernath responded and assisted the corrections officer Scott Carruth. Narcotics were located in two cells. Per request of Sergeant Troy Mock, investigation will continue after witness statements have been collected.

March 12, 1:13 p.m. – While on patrol Deputy Lane located a hitchhiker in the area of South Highway 261 and South Haase Road. Dep. Lane transported the subject into Washtucna.

March 12, 10:59 a.m. – Ritzville complainant reported the intersection of North Benzel Road and East Gering Road, and several roads in the area were tore up by a vehicle. Suspect vehicle is described as a 1970-80s black Trans Am.

March 12, 10:40 a.m. – Ritzville complainant called to report the theft of diesel on North Benzel Road. Deputy Lane responded to investigate.

March 11, 8:38 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of two loud bangs near East 5th Street. Deputy Bernath arrived and spoke with the complainant who stated the noise came from a location to the east, and later from the south of their residence. Dep. Bernath spoke with several people in the area and no one heard anything out of the ordinary.

March 11, 4:14 p.m. – Washtucna complainant requested assistance retrieving a boat on South Church Street. Deputy Lane advised the complainant to call the subject and make the proper arrangements. Dep. Lane further advised the complainant to call the sheriff’s office if they are unsuccessful.

March 11, 1:00 p.m. – Deputy Lane responded to a silent residential alarm on East Yeisley Road in Lind. Upon contact, the homeowner advised they were outside speaking with the phone company and forgot to shut off the alarm. Everything appeared fine and Dep. Lane cleared.

March 11, 11:50 a.m. – Ritzville complainant advised they repossessed tires and wheels from a subject on Weber Road. Complainant further advised they left the vehicle on some wheels and a letter for the subject.

March 11, 10:32 a.m. – Washtucna complainant advised of a suspicious circumstance on North A Street involving some neighbor kids. Deputy Lane responded to discuss the issue.

March 10, 6:46 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of a cow in the road in the area of East Rosenoff Road in Ritzville. Deputy Bernath responded to the area and was unable to locate the cow. Prior to Dep. Bernath clearing the scene, the responsible party contacted dispatch and advised they would be en route to check the fence line.

March 10, 4:34 p.m. – Hatton complainant advised a subject called their child’s friend on their cell phone and threatened to kidnap them and their sibling. Deputy Montalvo contacted the children and their parent at their home. They advised the call was received the day before and there was no call back number. Complainant further advised of subjects living in the area of Apple Alley Lane have been driving through very slowly.

March 10, 3:36 p.m. – Dispatch advised of an animal problem on West 3rd Street in Lind. Complainant requested phone contact. Deputy Madison contacted the complainant. The complainant advised their neighbor’s dog has been coming into the yard and acting aggressive to the complainant and their dogs. The complainant further stated the neighbor came into the yard to retrieve the dog. The do not know the neighbor and advised they would call if they returned.

March 10, 1:59 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of a vehicle theft on South Lutcher Avenue. Deputy Madison contacted the complainant and determined the case was a civil matter and the complainant needed to pursue an attorney and small claims court.
