Frank A. Draper

Frank A. Draper died at the age of 86 on Feb. 18 at his daughter’s home in Ritzville. He had been living in Ritzville for three years.

He was born on Nov. 19, 1926, to Nella and Frank Draper in North Port, Wash. He was raised in Portland, Ore. He enlisted in the United States Army and served five years. He then joined the Merchant Marines and retired after 20 years.

He had a passion for the sea and loved visiting the many ports along his journeys. He wrote many letters of his trials with the seas and it’s beauty, bringing it all so real to the reader. His hobbies included photography and classic cars. He was blessed to be driving his ‘95 Cadillac up to the week before his death.

He was a beloved husband, father and best friend. The family will hold his memories forever in their hearts.

He married Violeta in 1976, and they lived in San Jose, Calif., for 10 years before moving to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Nella; brother, Ernie Slocum; the mother of his children, Leora L. Draper; and his wife of 26 years, Violeta.

He is survived by sons, David Wayne of Auburn, and Thomas Seldon of San Jose, Calif .; daughters, Nella Edith of Ritzville, and Mary Ann of Renton.
