Wheat Land Communities’ Fair seeks 2013 Royalty

The Wheat Land Communities’ Fair (WLCF) is accepting applications for the 2013 royalty court.

Interested applicants must be between 14-18 years old, live within the boundaries of the Lind, Ritzville and Washtucna school districts, be currently enrolled in school, and entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2013. Three positions are chosen to represent the WLCF.

The royalty court serves as official fair hostesses, assists in the presentation of trophies, awards and ribbons throughout the fair, as well as appear in local parades and events promoting the fair.

Announcement of the 2013 royalty court will be made at the fair’s annual Wampum event, to be held on Saturday, April 27, in the Knuth Building at the fairgrounds.

Judging is completed prior to Wampum and is based on applications, personal interview and presentation of a 200-250 word essay on, “The Value of Wheat Land Communities’ Fair to the communities of Ritzville, Lind and Washtucna.”

Applications are available at the Lind-Ritzville and Washtucna high schools. Deadline to submit an application is Monday, April 8.
