Watercolor class to begin in April at art gallery

A beginner to intermediate watercolor class will be offered at the Ritzville Art Gallery beginning in April. The class, “Fun with Watercolor,” is taught by Carol Schwisow and runs from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 10, 17, 24, and May 1, 8.

All of the supplies needed are provided at the gallery or students can bring their own supplies. Each person is given a photo to work from at the beginning of the class, and the themes of the photos are landscapes and still life.

The third portion of the class is learning techniques, including glazing. Each class begins with a 10 minute sketching time, followed by a 20-minute presentation of the techniques by Schwisow. The class then has two complete hours to finish the piece and presentations are done the final 30 minutes of the class.

Each week, students will present a piece completed at home and the class has an opportunity to discuss the product.

The class costs $10 per session and the fee must be paid by April 3.

For more information or to sign up for the class, contact Schwisow at 659-1175 or the gallery at 659-0142.
