Ritzville Police Report

Jan. 29, 10:56 a.m. – Chief Dave McCormick responded to a malicious mischief call in the 100 block of East Main Avenue. Complainant advised a rock had been thrown through a window. Complainant further advised no entry was made into the building and the responsible party was notified and will secure the window. Chief McCormick requested the responsible call with the amount of the repair.

Jan. 28, 4:51 p.m. – Officer Tom Gracie responded to a vehicle prowl call in the 200 block of West Second Avenue. Upon contact the complainant advised sometime overnight their vehicle was prowled. The complainant stated when they entered their vehicle, they observed the glove box open and items scattered about.

Jan. 28, 11:25 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a vehicle prowl call in the 300 block of East Third Avenue. Dispatch advised the complainant stated change had been taken from the vehicle sometime during the night.

Jan. 28, 1:54 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a vehicle prowl call in the 200 block of East Birch Avenue. Upon contact, the complainant stated a toolbox located in the bed of their pickup had been opened, but nothing was taken.

Jan. 28, 6:15 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a vehicle prowl in the 200 block of East Fourth Avenue. Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who advised two of their cars had been prowled during the night. The complainant found a .25 cal semi-automatic pistol had been taken during the incident. Investigation is ongoing.

Jan. 26, 10:13 p.m. –

Officer Hunter Klewin responded to a warrant service in the 400 block of West Fourth Avenue. Officer Klewin arrested Jason Wilgus on an outstanding warrant out of Ellensburg. Trooper Randall Elkins assisted in taking the subject into custody.

Jan. 25, 3:24 p.m. – Sergeant Mark Cameron responded to a possible traffic accident in the 200 block of West Main Avenue. Complainant advised they observed an elderly man back his vehicle into another vehicle. Sgt. Cameron checked the second vehicle for damage and did not observe any damage. While on scene, Sgt. Cameron was contacted by a female subject stating the identity of the elderly man is her father in law. Sgt. Cameron contacted the driver at his residence who advised he had to get to the doctor’s office. Sgt. Cameron advised the subject he did not have a valid drivers license and would need to call for a ride in the future. Sgt. Cameron observed minor damage to the subjects’ vehicle and cleared.

Jan. 25, 11:17 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a citizen assist in the 200 block of East Dogwood Avenue. Sgt. Cameron contacted the complainant who had questions regarding tenant issues. Sgt. Cameron advised the complainant if problems arise to call the police department for assistance. Sgt. Cameron provided the complainant with a business card for future use.

Jan. 24, 11:55 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a possible burglary in the 200 block of West Second Avenue. The complainant reported seeing someone in the garage. Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the area and did not locate anyone. All entry points to the garage were secured.

Jan. 23, 9:46 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a suspicious persons call at North Washington Street and West Cherry Avenue. Complainant advised of a male subject in a white van with the lights on, possibly intoxicated. Sgt. Cameron and Officer Klewin located the subject, found he was the owner of the van and parked on his own property. The subject did not appear intoxicated and the officers cleared.

Jan. 23, 6:46 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a possible drug investigation in the 200 block of South Washington Street at the church. Complainant advised they are at youth group and two junior high boys have drugs and paraphernalia on them. Sgt. Cameron contacted the subjects at the church. An unidentified male juvenile was arrested for possession of marijuana under 40 grams. The same subject was arrested for vehicle prowl in the second degree and third degree theft in reference to a vehicle prowl from earlier in the day.

Jan. 23, 2:02 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a possible theft in the 500 block of West First Avenue at the Colwell Motor Inn. The complainant advised the previous managers stole approximately $260 in cash when they quit. The investigation is ongoing.
