Reeves celebrating 65th wedding anniversary

Neil D. and Evelyn L. (Arnst) Reeve are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary on Friday, Oct. 26.

They were married in Ritzville at Evelyn’s parents’ home, with Gene Reeve and Vivian (Myers) Schultz attending, on Oct. 26, 1947.

Starting off in Ritzville, their many career/household moves over the years involved a year spent on Adak Island, Alaska; and a year spent on Guam Island, South Pacific, all with five children in tow: Terry, Jim, John, LuAnn and Ron.

Neil’s career has spanned the trades including that as a plumber, the “go-to” guy in the 1960s in these local parts, public works departments, building inspection, and compliance inspection. Evelyn spent many years working for the telephone company, starting off as a switchboard operator. She also opened up a Montgomery Wards catalog store in the couple’s early days, and was a homemaker and “chief cook and bottle washer” for the family.

After officially retiring in 1989, the couple spent many enjoyable times traveling, RV’ing and cruising the Puget Sound in their cabin cruiser style boat. Visiting with friends was also on their priority “to-do” list. Over the years they have also given much support in each of their children’s lives and home endeavors.

After living in a multitude of homes in various cities and states they have come full circle and are living back in Ritzville.

A catered dinner with their family will mark this special occasion with them.
