Lady Broncos split court outings

The LRS Lady Broncos split their recent volleyball outings, defeating St. George’s and falling to Odessa-Harrington.

Tuesday night they defeat St. George’s in four games, 21-25, 25-9, 25-15 and 25-6. Saturday while playing in Lind they lost to Odessa-Harrington 26-28, 17-25 and 18-25.

The Odessa-Harrington outing was a heartbreaker as the Lady Broncos held the lead in the first game most of the way, allowing OH to creep back in late.

“The match started out with a lot of energy, positive energy,” head coach Cari Galbreath said. “We were dominating the first game most of the way but OH just never gave up. They kept pushing and were able to get my players a little rattled, well a lot rattled.  We lost the first game 26-28.  That was very deflating and we weren’t mentally tough.”

Galbreath is certain a win in the first game would have led to a different outcome.

“We should have won the first game and that would have changed the entire night,” she said. “This was a painful lesson for all of us and hopefully it will be a lesson we learn from and not repeat.”

Against OH, Dalyn Killian had 20 digs, three blocks, 11 kills and two aces. Jenna Bennett had 16 digs, 15 assists, four kills and two aces. Randi York finished with 11 digs and three kills. Jana Mattox provided six digs while Caitlin Schoessler and Maya Wahl each had five digs.

Killian finished the St. George’s match with 21 digs, one block, 12 kills and five aces.

Bennett had 12 digs, two kills and two aces. Wahl finished with three aces, two kills and eight digs. Mattox had six digs.
