Lind-Ritzville FFA Alumni meeting includes election of new officers

The Lind and Ritzville FFA Alumni Associations are hosting a combined meeting on Monday, Oct. 15, at the Ag shop in Ritzville, beginning at 7 p.m.

The two organizations have been working to merge together to create the Lind-Ritzville FFA Alumni Association. Individuals who are interested in becoming a member of the FFA Alumni Association are encouraged to attend the meeting.

“This is to get the Lind and Ritzville groups together and we’re excited to be supporting the program and the kids. With the high school being together now, we want to be able to support the combined program,” said president of Ritzville FFA Alumni, Derek Schafer.

Ritzville FFA Alumni board members are Schafer as president, Camille Nelson as the vice president, Stephanie White as treasurer, and Stacey Schoessler as the secretary.

Lind FFA Alumni board members are Mike Doyle, Randy and Debbie Kulm, Josh Knodel and Matt Miller.

The most important agenda item is regarding the official name change of the organization. The new group has to register with the National FFA Organization and is also changing bylaws to reflect the new alumni association.

Since this is the inaugural meeting of the two organizations, the group is officially electing officers. The members of both organizations are also going to discuss potential due payments for members and focus on maintaining an FFA Alumni scholarship for current FFA members in the Lind-Ritzville High School.

Additional agenda items include bringing all members in attendance up to speed about activities held during the summer months and the current standing of the organization. An upcoming project for the Lind-Ritzville FFA Alumni Association will be the greenhouse project and completing a fully functional greenhouse next to the Ag Shop in Ritzville.

The event is open to public and any individual interested in becoming an FFA Alumni member or who wants to become involved with the organization to help the Lind-Ritzville FFA Chapter is encouraged to attend the meeting.
