Tigercats spearhead win over Knights

The LaCrosse-Washtucna Tigercats football team stormed the field and walked away with a 50-6 win over the Sunnyside Christian Knights on Friday, Sept. 21. The LW team traveled to Zillah High School where they annihilated the Knights in a league game.

With a 36-0 lead at halftime, the Tigercats were able to maintain control of the game.

The senior athletes for the LW team stepped up as leaders during the game, which contributed to the Tigercats being able to hold the Knights scoreless until the third quarter.

Johnathan Holdren scored the first touchdown on a two-yard run for the Tigercats, but the team failed to complete the two-point conversion. Sam Harder received a 15-yard pass from Joey Guske to earn the second touchdown for the Tigercats team.

Sawyer Hostetler ran the ball in to earn the extra two points for the team.

Bo Rice converted the third touchdown with an 80-yard pass reception from Guske. Hostetler followed up the score with a 12-yard run and Rice ran in to earn the two-point conversion.

During the second quarter, Alec Flemming received an 18-yard pass from Guske to earn six points for the Tigercats. Guske completed the pass to Holdren to earn the final two points of the quarter.

Sunnyside Christian athlete Luke Wavrin scored the only touchdown for the Knights in the third quarter with a 25-yard run. The run for the two-point conversion failed and the Knights were scoreless the remainder of the game.

LW athlete, Austin Summers, scored two points on a safety and earned the only points for the Tigercats during the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Harder had a five-yard run and Rice had a one-yard run to earn the final 12 points for the Tigercats.

The Tigercats face Colton in the homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 28, in Washtucna beginning at 7 p.m.
