Breast cancer awareness day set

The Eighth Annual Freda Gaines Breast Cancer Awareness Day is Thursday, Oct. 11, at the C.J. Newland American Legion Memorial Hall.

The event begins at 11 a.m. with a luncheon. The suggested donation is $5.

The menu includes: Wanda’s (Staley) homemade chowder or chili, cinnamon rolls, punch, coffee and cupcake bar.

The guest speaker is Jamie Woods and the title of the program is “What’s in Your Mouth Matters.”

All proceeds from the event will be given to the Oral Cancer Foundation.
