Heidenreich to open for national performer

As a senior in high school, Chelsey Heidenreich’s musical career has already taken off and provided remarkable opportunities for the Ritzville native. The next step for Heidenreich is performing as a special guest and the opening artist for national performer, Ron Pope.

Heidenreich recently learned about the performance and eagerly waits for Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. when she gets to take center stage at Carrs Corner in Spokane.

Pope was originally in a band called The District but decided to start a solo career. He is well known for his Internet sensation song, “A Drop in the Ocean” that helped to launch his career. His song has been featured on multiple television shows, including The Vampire Diaries, 90210 and So You Think You Can Dance.

As artists, Pope and Heidenreich have a lot in common. They both are musically gifted, play multiple instruments, and write and compose their own music.

For Heidenreich, the chance to open for a national singer is a blessing and an opportunity she will not take for granted. Over the past few months, Heidenreich has expanded her experience as an artist to learn about the field of music.

Heidenreich recently spent some time in Portland, Ore., where she attended an audio engineering school, Recording Connection Audio Institute. During her time in Oregon, Heidenreich was also fortunate enough to participate and create a music video for one of her title tracks.

The song “Never Forgotten” is Heidenreich’s latest single, and is now a full-length music video. Working with cinematographer/camera operator Jason Faust and director Lealon Gordon, Heidenreich was able to create a music video over the course of two days.

The video was shot in Hood River, and along with Heidenreich in the video is a couple that portrays the love story in the lyrics of the song. Heidenreich said she was a part of the model search and the best part about it was that the couple in the video is a real life couple that has been dating for about four years.

“Originally we were not going to do the storyline and I would just sing, but they wanted to do the full production,” Heidenreich said. “We had a lot of different versions and we have an extended video coming out soon.”

The shoot took two long days and Heidenreich said that one day of shooting took almost 16 hours, but the end product was well worth the time commitment. The video can be viewed on YouTube or on Heidenreich’s website.

Even with all of the past and future excitement, Heidenreich remains focused on her goals. She is currently enrolled in online classes at Ritzville High School and is working as an assistant engineer at Hitstreet Records in Spokane.

Heidenreich discovered her talent as a singer when she was 15 and asked to sing at the Baccalaureate ceremony. After that, she has never stopped singing and has been recording music at Hitstreet Records since she was 15 years old.

After she graduates high school, Heidenreich hopes to pursue a marketing degree at Spokane Falls Community College. She has excelled in marketing classes and has gained experience in marketing through her work and music career.

Another highlight for Heidenreich is her upcoming performance at the National FFA Convention this fall. This is the third consecutive year that Heidenreich has been selected to participate in the talent show competition at the national level and has an opportunity to perform on the main stage during the convention.

But until then, Heidenreich continues to perform at a variety of venues in the Spokane area. On Sept. 28, Heidenreich is performing at the A Club at 7:30 p.m. with six other young and up-and-coming artists in the area.

On Oct. 5 and 12, Heidenreich performs at the Big Barn Market in Davenport beginning at 3 p.m.

She then travels back home to Ritzville on Thursday, Oct. 18, for a solo performance at Cow Creek Mercantile at 6 p.m.
