Lind’s park district levy survives, Washtucna levy fails

The final ballot count was tabulated on Tuesday, Aug. 21, and the results show the Lind Park and Recreation District No. 3 maintenance and operation (M&O) levy passed. Aug. 21 served as the certification date and the elections office counted the last of the ballots early in the afternoon.

The Lind M&O levy passed with 60.22 percent and 168 votes in favor of the levy. The levy needed 60 percent to pass and because it achieved the needed percentage, there is not a ballot recount.

The Washtucna Park and Recreation District No. 2 M&O levy failed, only achieving 57.25 percent and 75 votes in favor of the levy.

The Ritzville M&O levy passed with a 65.22 percent and 557 votes in favor. The Washtucna Cemetery District No. 1 M&O levy also passed with 83.70 percent and 113 votes approving the levy.

The final number of voters who voted in the primary election is 2,864, which amounts to 45.90 percent of registered voters in Adams County. Voters represented 31 different precincts during the election.

The elections office will now move forward with awarding superior court judge candidate, Brian Miller, with his certification of election.

The next election is the Nov. 6 general election. For more information about the upcoming election or for updated election information, visit the Adams County website at http://www.co.adams.wa.us/, and click on the “elections” tab on the left hand side of the screen.
