Gary Bostrom named new CEO/CFO for hospital district, reports for duty Monday

Gary Bostrom of Montana will be the new chief executive officer of Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2.

He will also serve as the district’s chief financial officer as the board of commissioners agrees to a contract that will make Bostrom responsible for dual roles.

Bostrom was one of two finalists for the CEO position during the search process from the past few months.

The commissioners initially offered the position to Rick Richards. After some contract negotiations with Richards, he declined to accept the position, opting for another employment opportunity.

Commissioners met in executive session Monday to determine their next step.

Three commissioners attended the meeting: Chairman Stacey Plummer, Jeff Reynolds and Kirk Danekas. Jerry Snyder, who was on vacation in Oregon, attended via telephone. Jerry Crossler, who was also on vacation, did not attend.

The commissioners endorsed a contract that Bostrom agreed to, which includes a salary of $150,000 per year. The contract includes a 12-month severance and an annual incentive payment of up to five percent of his base salary if he meets all of the goals established by the commissioners.

Plummer said Tuesday that the district also agreed to a $10,000 moving expense. If Bostrom quits or is terminated within the first year, he will repay the $10,000. If he leaves in the second year he will return $7,000 of the moving expense.

Plummer said Bostrom will start work on Monday. She also said he will move to the community.

Of the two candidates, Plummer said the district was fortunate to have very viable candidates.

“They are both quality people,” she said of the candidates. “We are lucky we didn’t lose Gary while Mr. Richards was taking his time to decide whether or not to accept the position.”
