Food worker card now available online

The Adams County Health Department (ACHD) has made it easier to get the Food Worker Card training that is required to work in a food establishment. ACHD has partnered with the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department to offer this service online.

Residents can now take the training, pay for the test and print out the card in the convenience of their own home. The training course is offered in many different languages like English, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese and still only costs $10.

In order to take the online course, visit the ACHD website and follow the directions. The ACHD website is: http://www.co.adams.wa.us/departments/temp_helth.asp.

Scroll down to the Food Worker Card section and click on the “www.foodworkercard.wa.gov” link. This links to the training site where an individual can register and complete the training course.

It is necessary to have a working printer to print out the card after taking the training and passing the test.

Acceptable forms of payment for the class include VISA, MasterCard or Discover credit card or a debit card with the VISA or MasterCard logo.

For questions regarding the process, there is a list of Frequently Asked Questions listed under the Food Worker Card Education section on the website.

For individuals who do not have Internet access in their homes, visit either the Ritzville Library or the Othello Branch of the Mid-Columbia Library system to use a computer.

The Othello Branch does require visitors to be a member, so contact them directly about their membership opportunities at 488-9683.

The Ritzville Library allows any community member to access their computer system for this training. Contact the library at 659-1222, with any additional questions.

Additionally, the ACHD is scheduled to hold classes in August and in November at the Public Works Conference Room in Ritzville.

Contact the Adams County Health Department at 488-2031 with any comments or feedback after using this new service.
