Stamper places fifth in state

The St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse-Washtucna team traveled to the 2B State Track meet on May 25-26. The girls’ team placed 17th in the state with 13 total points at the meet.

Darcy Stamper led the boy’s team with a fifth place finish and was the only LW athlete who competed in the finals at the state meet. Stamper competed in the high jump, and he finished in the same placing and at the same height as his performance at last year’s state track meet.

Senior athlete, Anne Fleming, competed in her last three events for her high school career. Fleming ran a leg of the 4x100, 4x200 and the 4x400-meter relays during the state competition.

The team did not post a fast enough time to compete in the final round, but placed 12th in the 4x200 and 15th in the 4x400 relay.

Freshman athlete Gail Harder also ran a leg of the 4x100-meter relay that placed 13th in the state competition. St. John-Endicott athletes Rachel Gfeller, Gretchen VanLith, Annie Bailey, Sami Bailey, Shania Bailey and Heather Siegel ran the remaining legs for the three relays.
