LRS Fastpitch competes in last game

The LRS girl’s Fastpitch team competed in the last league game on Tuesday, May 15, against the Davenport Gorillas.

The Gorillas scored two runs in the first inning, taking an early lead over the Broncos. Alicia Bolin scored one run in the first and one run in the second inning to tie the Gorillas.

Late in the fourth inning, Bolin scored another run for the Broncos, allowing them to take the lead for the first time in the game. But the Gorillas tied the game again in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Jenna Bennett pitched for the Broncos until she gave up multiple runs in the sixth inning. Bolin switched from catcher in order to pitch the remainder of the game.

The Gorillas scored 10 runs during the sixth inning, while the Broncos did not score again. The game ended after the sixth inning with a score of 13-3 in Davenport’s favor.

Bennett was attributed with the loss and the Broncos had four errors in the game. Because of the loss, the LRS Fastpitch team’s season has ended for this year.
