Job and Career Fair coming to community college

The 19th annual Job and Career Fair at Big Bend Community College features a diverse and high-quality group of employers and is to be held on Thursday, April 19.

The fair is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the ATEC building.

New employers at the fair this year are ChinaSoft International and Pacific Coast Canola.

“It is exciting to see the new companies and the opportunities they represent for jobs, economic development and positive change for Grant County,” said Rebecca Milligan, Job and Career Fair Committee Chair.

Employers attending the fair include companies involved in manufacturing, food processing, retail services, service industries, health care, aerospace, education and technology.

“There is no other place in this area where you can touch base with so many employers in one location and in one day,” Milligan said.

Fair-goers can check with SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers, REC Silicon, Microsoft and Boeing to learn more about what they require for employment.

“We like to see the national employers, but we’re always grateful for the continuing support over the years from our local employers,” Milligan said. “The job and career fair is an opportunity for job seekers to interview the company, to ask questions. It is also a great opportunity for those not looking for a job right now to discover who the key employers in the Grant County area are and what they are looking for in employees.”

WorkSource and SkillSource partner with BBCC to develop workshops and activities for job seekers.

WorkSource moves its employment office resources to BBCC for the day.

Attendees can take advantage of workshops helping them prepare for job interviews, completing applications and writing a resume.
