Proposed LEA cuts announced for local schools

The Governor’s proposed Local Effort Assistance (LEA) cuts to the 9th District school districts inside of Adams County are Benge, Lind, Othello, Ritzville and Washtucna. LEA is also know as Levy Equalization and was intended to help equalize educational funding between property-poor and property-rich districts.

The proposed LEA reductions in percentage and dollar amounts is -25 percent equaling $8,686 for Benge, Lind could be expecting -100 percent equaling $83,913, Othello might have -10 percent but equaling $337,737, Ritzville could also see -100 percent equaling $87,589 and Washtucna might...
