Spokane Ag Expo photo contest to feature area shooters

Spokane Ag Expo, celebrating its 35th year, will again feature its popular photography contest celebrating agriculture at the 2012 show. Photographers are asked to submit entries depicting “Agriculture in the Inland Northwest” by Nov. 30, 2011. Photographs will be displayed at Spokane Ag Expo 2012, which is held in the Spokane Convention Center Complex in the exhibit halls. Dates of the show are Feb. 7-9, 2012.

“The photography contest has become one of the more popular events at the show and continues to grow,” said show manager Myrna O’Leary. “With 137 entries at the 2011 show, the impressive photo gallery area has become a favorite stopping place for everyone attending the show.” The winning entries will receive cash prizes and ribbons for first, second and third place in both the adult and youth (under 18 years of age) divisions. Ribbons will also be awarded for honorable mention and manager’s choice. Each winner will also receive two free tickets to Spokane Ag Expo that are good for all three days of the show.

Contestants are asked to submit either color or black and white prints (minimum size of 8 x 10 inches and maximum size of 11 x 14 inches). Photos need to be mounted on cardboard or matting (not framed) along with a disc of their photos. No more than four photos can be entered by a contestant.

Winners in each category will be judged by area photographers, based on theme, composition and creativity. Contest rules and entry forms can be found at http://www.agshow.org.
