Adams County Sheriff's Office Report

July 17, 10:32 p.m. – A Spokane complainant advised of needing assistance with an individual at the Adams County Jail. It was determined no assault occurred and the individual was transported to Spokane for an appointment at Sacred Heart Medical Center.

July 17, 2:32 p.m. – A deputy assisted with an assault in the Adams County Jail and transported a victim to East Adams Rural Hospital for treatment until additional jail staff could arrive.

July 17, 6:24 p.m. – A Washtucna complainant advised of an open door and a broken window of a residence on South Elm Street. Dep. Ben Buriak later contacted complainant on July 24 and went through the residence. It was determined nothing was taken and the only damage was a broken window valued at $40.

July 17, 12:23 p.m. – Complainant advised of a calf out on North Lind-Hatton Road, Lind. Possible owners were contacted and one called back after checking the area to advise the calf was no longer on the roadway.

July 17, 1:06 a.m. – Ritzville Police Department requested assistance with an open door in the 200 block of West Main Avenue.

July 16, 7:15 p.m. – Sgt. Stacy Flynn assisted in the Adams County Jail after a fight in the felony wing. Flynn went on the patient transport to East Adams Rural Hospital until additional corrections staff could arrive.

July 16, 8:30 p.m. – Front Point Security of McLean, Va., advised of a burglary alarm on East Tokio Road, Ritzville. Deputies Aaron Madison and Jeff Lane contacted a subject who lives at the residence. It was determined the listed subject entered the house with a key but didn’t have the pass code to disarm the security system.

July 16, 8:17 p.m. – Complainant advised that a request would be made the following day for a deputy to stand by as a vehicle was retrieved from East Tokio Road, Ritzville.

July 16, 10:57 a.m. – Complainant advised the railroad crossing arms on North Wilbur Road in Lind were stuck in the down position.

July 16, 10:41 a.m. – Dep. Buriak contacted a Lind complainant in the 200 block of West Second Street who advised of several I-beams stolen from the property. Complainant advised of missing five 10-feet long iron I-beams, each valued at about $175. The complainant advised the items were taken in the last two weeks.

July 16, 1:16 a.m. – Complainant advised of a vehicle parked in the area of East Danekas and East Rehn Roads, Ritzville, with the lights off. Dep. Lane contacted the vehicle and the subject, who advised they were trying to sleep and thought they were fine there. They moved to a different location as requested.

July 15, 9:47 p.m. – Dep. Madison assisted Washington State Patrol Trooper Jason Kiel with a felony warrant at milepost 223 of eastbound Interstate 90.

July 15, 4:49 p.m. – Complainant requested that Dep. Madison contact a subject on North Hoefel Road, Ritzville. While enroute to contact the subject, dispatch advised the complainant had made contact with the subject.

July 15, 3:01 p.m. – Dep. Dan Verhey contacted subjects on East Second Street in Lind and found the subjects had painted on a building. Arrangements were made for the subjects to clean up the paint.

July 15, 12:02 p.m. – Dep. Verhey stopped a vehicle for a defective brake light on Weber Avenue in Ritzville. A driver’s check revealed Shawn Michael Fowler was driving while license suspended third degree for unpaid tickets. The vehicle was picked up and driven from the scene by a male subject.

July 14, 7:42 p.m. – Complainant advised that an individual was in a residence in the 100 block of West Sixth Street in Lind and took items.

July 14, 5:53 p.m. – A deputy responded to East Calloway Road, Washtucna, to stand by to insure the peace. Both subjects were contacted and it appeared they had worked the issue out.

July 14, 8:07 a.m. – Complainant advised of collecting personal items from a residence on West Sixth Street in Lind. Dep. Verhey advised the complainant to only take her items from the residence.

July 14, 2:05 a.m. – Dep. Madison assisted Ritzville officer Cameron with an open door in the 200 block of East Cherry Avenue.

July 13, 4:40 p.m. – A Lind complainant went to the sheriff’s office in Ritzville and reported a vehicle was broken into while parked in the sheriff’s office parking lot. A cell phone was stolen. The complainant decided to not wait for a deputy and left. When Dep. Buriak arrived at the sheriff’s office, he checked the surveillance video to the parking lot and no one was observed breaking into the complainant’s vehicle.

July 13, 2:23 p.m. – Dep. Verhey observed an old mattress/box spring and rug dumped on the north side of East Weber Road about a mile east of the I-90 onramp in Ritzville. Dispatch contacted Adams County Public Works and requested the department pick up the items. There are no suspects at this time.

July 13, 12:49 p.m. – Dep. Verhey and Sgt. Brian Taylor contacted a complainant on East Gering Road, Ritzville, about a shop being burglarized. Complainant later advised that a Tikka 22-250 varmint gun long-range bi-pod rifle with a container that holds extra rounds on the stock and a Nikon scope were missing. The rifle was entered into the WACIC/NCIC (Washington Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center) as stolen.

July 12, 9:29 p.m. – Dispatch advised of a 911 hang up call from the 100 block of East Seventh Street in Lind. Prior to arrival, dispatch advised that upon call back it was determined that kids were playing with the phone. Dep. Buriak checked the residence and determined everything was fine. Buriak further educated the juveniles on the proper use of 911 and cleared without incident.

July 12, 7:33 p.m. – WSP advised of a trooper not answering status on I-90 at milepost 222.

July 12, 5:59 p.m. – The Ritzville Police Department requested assistance with locating a stolen item on North Rand Lane.

July 12, 5:02 p.m. – The Connell Police Department advised of possible animal neglect on East Hatton Road, Lind. They further advised dogs had porcupine quills in them. Dep. Buriak checked on the dogs, which all had food and water. One dog had porcupine quills in its face. The owner advised that the dogs roam the property and sometimes get into fights with porcupines. The owner further advised the quills were being removed.

July 12, 1:25 p.m. – A Washtucna complainant advised a colt located on North D Street had possibly been taken by a cougar or other kind of wild cat. Dep. Verhey contacted the Department of Fish and Wildlife and advised of the possible attack.

July 12, 11:29 a.m. – A Lind area complainant advised of a citizen dispute involving a deceased relative’s vehicle that was sold or given away. Upon further checking, Dep. Verhey determined it was a civil matter and advised the complainant.

July 12, 8:21 a.m. – Complainant advised of a burglary on South Beckley Road, Benge. Dep. Verhey contacted the complainant and property owner. The vehicle was entered into the WACIC/NCIC as stolen.
