Resident poses questions to Ritzville City Council candidates

To the Editor:

Here are some questions to ask each candidate seeking reelection to Ritzville city government:

1. How do you recommend the proposed $6.3 million water related loans be repaid?

Follow-up questions to No. 1:

1.a. Tell us about your remarks in city council meetings regarding the repayment of these loans?

1.b. Do you believe the well and water infrastructure issues are important? If so, what have been your comments regarding the ability of the citizens to pay the bill? Where in the city council minutes can we find your comments?

1.c. When do you recommend the city council share this issue with the city taxpayers? Where in the city council minutes can we find your recommendation?

2. What has been your understanding of the reasons for the declining population of Ritzville and the impact of this decline on the ability of the city council to fund its new projects? Where can we find your position on this matter in the city council minutes?

3. What is your opinion on the wisdom of the city of Ritzville investing taxpayer funds (whether federal, state, county, or city) on a light industrial park/tourist park? Where in the city council minutes can we find your position voiced on this matter?
