Lind receives state recognition for program, educators

Two Lind School District employees and an academic program were honored during the Washington Association of Agricultural Educators summer conference. Winners were announced on June 29.

Andy Williams, the career and technical agriculture program teacher at Lind, was named the Outstanding Secondary Agricultural Education Teacher for the state in the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) Western Region as well as District 9 agricultural education teacher.

The Lind program was also named agricultural program of the year for District 9 and Outstanding Secondary Agriculture Education Program for the state.

In addition, Lind Principal Brian Ellis earned District 9 Administrator of the Year through a nomination process by district agriculture teachers.

Educators are judged on the quality of the entire agricultural education program as well as their leadership in civic, community, agriculture/business and professional activities.

Secondary/middle school programs are based on their entire curriculum, including but not based on FFA achievements.

The application includes overview of the chapter, teaching philosophy, instruction, experiential learning, student organizations and partnerships.

The winning applications about Williams and the Lind program will be sent onto the NAAE for ranking against other state winners in the NAAE Western Region at the national level.

Winners will be announced in August.
