With the rapidly approaching holiday season, the spirit of giving is rich in the air. Some organizations, like Second Harvest, are eager to spread joy to others. It is in Second Harvest’s nature to be kind; they generously gave back to the Lind and Ritzville communities this past week. Second Harvest’s “Homegrown Help” mobile food bank reached out to help Lind-Ritzville Middle School students and other locals on Nov. 26, as it does once every month. Second Harvest, in cooperation with Washington State University (WSU) extensi... Full story

  • The Crazy Fans...

    Dale Anderson|Updated Dec 5, 2013

When things are going great on the field of play, we as fans can be very complimentary about the coaching staff and the team. We’re excited about how well each and every kid plays. That, of course, is when the team plays well week in and week out. When there is a breakdown and the team loses a lead and things start to head south often times a fan will try to figure out who is to blame for this problem. It might be that the coaches are calling stupid plays or the tackling is a... Full story

  • “Glitch” serves the Obama administration well

    Updated Dec 5, 2013

President Obama does have a heart! He sneaked the ACA past the hard fighting republicans with the help of some almost unbelievable circumstances. He did this by taking affordable insurance away from the majority of Americans who had chosen their policies to fit their needs. He did this so that a small minority of people could have insurance. I have not heard one person utter the question about how many of these people are American citizens. Thus we come to the reason I think makes the case for believing he has a heart. He nee...

  • Information is misleading about offender

    Updated Dec 5, 2013

Concerning the sex offender case in the November 21 paper, some serious and misleading statements need to be cleared up. Having my picture and the things said about me are very disturbing and misleading. I am not guilty of molesting anyone. I was falsely charged by my alcoholic wife in Canada in 2010 with molesting her granddaughter. I am on Social Security and don’t have unlimited funds to hire a good attorney. The article said I fled Canada (not true). Immigration Canada was in the process of deporting me. I want the p...

The board intends to provide $4 million from their stash so the voters would be asked to fund $2.4, $... Full story

  • Pledge a donation to help the Ritz Theatre

    Updated Dec 5, 2013

Have you noticed the Ritz Theater as of late? It looks really good and the volunteers need to be commended for their work and dedication. There is just 45,000 dollars to go to completely renovate the theater. If 45 people gave a thousand dollars that would finish it off or if 90 people gave 500 that would finish it off. Let’s see if we can’t give ourselves, and Eastern Adams County, a Christmas gift this year and finish off an icon of the area we all can enjoy for years to come and our children can enjoy as well. If you can...

  • Preserve affordable health insurance

    Don C. Brunell, president|Updated Dec 5, 2013
