    Vernon Dean Sutherland passed away May 7th in Spokane, WA. Dean was born on the Morgan homestead near Benge, WA. He was the 1st of 4 children born to Bill & Gladys (Morgan) Sutherland. Dean spent his early years in the Benge area. In 1936 the family moved to the farm near Washtucna. He graduated in 1949 and attended the University of Idaho.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague track and field team hosted the NE 2B Sub District track meet in Ritzville on May 8, with multiple athletes earning the chance to move on to compete in the NE 2B District 7 track meet on May 18-19. The LRS women’s team placed fifth with 70.25 points, and the men’s team placed 12th with 13 points.
