Warden man killed in crash

WARDEN — A local man was killed early Sunday, April 21, in a crash just west of the city.

Jose E. Valdivia, 25, of Warden, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington State Patrol. His passenger, Alejandro J. Jimenez Velasco, 22, of Moses Lake, was transported to a Spokane hospital for treatment of his injuries.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Valdivia was eastbound on state Highway 170 in a 2007 BMW 328 at about 1:02 a.m. Sunday when his vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

The car came to rest upside down on the south side of the road, the patrol reported.

The deceased driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash; his passenger was not, the patrol reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and investigators have yet to determine if drugs or alcohol was a factor, the patrol said.

The cause of the crash was listed as wheels off roadway.
