Ritzville Police investigate tire slashings

RITZVILLE — Police are trying to identify suspects who slashed the tires on multiple vehicles on the south side of town Saturday, March 30.

“There have been approximately 30 separate incident of tires being slashed,” the police department posted on its social media on Sunday.

Residents have provided police with several leads, with two juvenile suspects having been identified, police said.

Investigators are also looking for social media accounts of the suspected perpetrators.

“Search warrants are being requested for social media outlets,” police posted. “The returns from social media outlets take time, but we are hopeful they will contain the necessary evidence to forward to the Adams County prosecutor and juvenile court in order to prosecute the juveniles responsible for this crime spree.”

Police have also obtained fingerprint evidence, police said.

Initially, police posted a video of a person of interest in the case; that person was not connected to the tire slashings and the video has been removed from social media, police said.

Anyone with video footage that may provide police with more leads on the tire slashings is asked to email the videos on links to them to [email protected].

People with information on the slashings can report what they know by calling 509-659-1313; callers can remain anonymous.
