State Patrol plans WSU spring break emphasis

Troopers target dangerous driving behaviors on highways

RITZVILLE — The Washington State Patrol will be on the lookout for dangerous driving March 7-17 as Washington State University students travel for spring break.

The added patrols will target state Highway 26, Interstate 90, U.S. Highway 395, U.S. Highway 195 and others linking the university in Pullman to other communities.

Troopers will focus on speeding, impaired and distracted driving, among other dangerous behavior.

Motorists can expect to see an increased presence of troopers on those routes, officials said, noting drivers are encouraged to pay close attention to posted speed limits.

With winter weather hitting much of the region again Monday, troopers also said motorists should plan for inclement weather.
