Broncos girls' season ends

Lind-Ritzville falls to NWC

SPOKANE VALLEY - Northwest Christian (Colbert) made 11 three-point shots to run away with a 61-41 win over Lind-Ritzville/Sprague in a loser-out game at the girls District 7 Basketball Tournament at West Valley High School on Saturday, Feb. 10.

The Crusaders displayed their shooting supremacy early in the first quarter by hitting four baskets from behind the arc, two by Leah Platt.

Despite the Crusaders' hot-shooting, Zoe Galbreath scored 7 points to help give the Broncos a 13-12 lead at the end of the quarter.

Galbreath accounted for all the Broncos points in the second quarter. But her 8 points were not enough for Lind-Ritzville to keep pace with Northwest Christian, whose shooters connected on two more 3-point shots and scored on several put-backs from under the hoop.

At the half, the Crusaders led, 27-21.

The second half was all Crusaders; they extended their lead to 46-30 after three quarters en route to the 61-41 win.

Galbreath was the Broncos leading scorer with 27 points. Harlee Hennings and Saige Galbreath each chipped in 5 points and Addy Colbert and Claire Wellsandt each scored 2.

Macey Shamblin and Claire Metz led the Crusaders in scoring with16 and 14 points, respectively.

"We were a little tired from yesterday's game, but I thought that we played really hard." Bronco Coach Bryce Court said. "The girls gave everything they had. I thought we played well as a team we were just unable to score enough buckets to win."

The Broncos ended their season with an overall record of 11-11 and a 6-5 record in the Northeast 2B League.

With the win, Northwest Christian advanced to the District 6/7 Crossover Tournament at Wenatchee High School, where they will play top seeded Okanogan on Saturday, Feb. 17.
