Bronco girls tame Lions on Senior Night

Local girls close season with Colfax loss

RITZVILLE - Before a packed Gilson Gymnasium on Senior Night, the Bronco girls put on a scoring exhibition with multiple team members putting points on the board in a 61-23 rout of the Upper Columbia Academy Lions on Monday, Jan. 29.

The Broncos led the girls from Spangle start to finish, scoring 17 points in the first quarter and 23 in the second to take a 40-16 lead into the break. They added 14 to the margin in the third and players came off the bench to hold the line in the fourth, for a final score of 61-23.

Zoe Galbreath led all scorers with 20 points and senior Harlee Hennings added 17 for the Broncos.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague's other scorers included Addy Colbert, 11, Maddi Cameron, 4, Ayianna Bernal 3, and Danika Cox, Rose Fedie and Saige Galbreath, 2 each.

The victory was short-lived, however, as the Bronco girls fell in Colfax, 25-32, on Tuesday night, Jan. 30.

The Broncos lead 8-6 at the end of the first quarter.

But Colfax turned on the scoring in the second, to take a 21-18 lead at the half and expand it to 35-28 at the end of three. In the final quarter, Colfax added 6 more to the gap to take a 45-32 win to wrap up regular season play.

Hennings led the Broncos with 10 points; Ava Swan posted 10 for the Bulldogs.

Colbert and Hennings each made two, 3-point shots in the losing effort.

After the loss to Colfax, the Broncos (10-8, 7-6 in league) headed to the Northeast 2B district tournament on Saturday, Feb. 3.

In their opening game, they topped Northwest Christian, 48-45. See district story.
