YAKIMA - The St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse Eagles took eighth in the WIAA state 1B volleyball tournament Thursday, Nov. 9, in the Yakima Valley SunDome.
The Eagles had two games on Wednesday, followed by two more on Thursday.
The Eagles entered the tournament as the No. 10 seed in a bracket of 20 teams, and exceeded expectations, capturing an eighth place trophy in this year's tournament.
The Eagles opened state against No. 7-seeded Waterville-Mansfield.
The Eagles fell, 3-1. Set scores were 20-25, 16-25, 25-23, 16-25.
Later that day, the Eagles faced the No. 18-seeded Fellowship Christian Eagles.
In the battle of the Eagles, St. John won in straight sets 25-20, 25-19, 25-22.
The Eagles played the Entiat Tigers on Thursday, with the Eagles besting the Tigers to advance to the seventh place match: 17-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-15.
Guaranteed a trophy, the Eagles faced Liberty Christian.
The Eagles lost the match in four sets, winning only the third set: 26-28, 15-25, 25-22, 14-25.
