Bronco runners wrap up season

CHEWELAH – The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague and St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse runners wrapped up their 2023 cross country season Saturday, Oct. 28, at the regional meet at Chewelah Golf Course.

At the regional meet, the fastest area runner was Bronco senior Caleb Heater, who finished the boys 5,000-meter race in 21:56.65, for an 81st-place finish. Teammate junior Cameron Christianson was a second behind, finishing 83rd in 21:57.27.

St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse senior William Tollett was right behind Christianson, finished 84th in 22:10.44

Meanwhile, Eagle sophomore David Logen was 108th with a time of 25:28.46.

In the girls 5,000-meter event, St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse sophomore Keira Maloney set the pace for area girls. She finished 47th overall with a time of 28:23.05.

For the Broncos, sophomore Maeve Korthuis and junior Savannah Carruth were not far behind.

Kothuis placed 51st with a time of 29:23.74, followed by Carruth in 52nd in 29:25.00.

Neither team qualified a runner for the upcoming state meet Saturday, Nov. 4, at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
